Testing the reader using VCode Diagnostics
Introduction
After installing the bar code reader, follow this topic to make sure that
the reader works and that it can read labels on all sides of the plates that
you plan to use.
This procedure can also be used at any time to test that a bar code label
design is readable before using it for a production run.
Before you start
This procedure assumes that PlateTag is already open and
communicating with the VCode.
Procedure
To test the bar code reader using diagnostics:
1. In the Device Selection group box of the Print Job page, select the
default profile that corresponds to the type of connection cable you
are using.
2. Open VCode Diagnostics.
3. In the I/O functions tab, click Trigger BCR.
Note: If the button is unavailable, either the bar code reader was
not detected during initialization, the VCode was not previously
initialized, or a plate with a bar code was on the plate stage
during initialization.
4. The result is displayed in the Last value box above the button.
