MULTIBEAM PROCESSING<br />
Prior to the Intrepid gridding operation all of the multbeam data had been extensively edited and<br />
corrected using the CARIS HIPS & SIPS processing software. Figure 33 below shows the CARIS<br />
workflow.<br />
Essentially a file describing the configuration of the various sensors (GPS antenna, motion sensor<br />
unit and transducer heads) and any biases (roll, pitch, yaw and time latency) is created so that the<br />
soundings can be located in their correct spatial positions. Measurements of the speed of sound in<br />
water and an estimate of tidal heights (determined using WXTide32 software) are made and also<br />
entered into the CARIS application.<br />
