All strips are to be cut on crosswise grain of the fabric (width
of the fabric). All strips are based on 42" long strips.
Carefully trim off all selvages. PLEASE READ THE
PATTERN CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

and sew a 2 3 /8" square of Fabric 3 to a 3 7 /8" triangle of

Sew a 1 7 /8" square of Fabric 5 to the end of each of Fabrics
7, 3, 9, 4, 16, 12, & 11. Layout as illustrated. Sew a 2 1 /4"
triangle of Fabric 14 to the end of strip sets 2 - 8 and 2R - 8R.
Fabric 14 triangles are mirror images. Be sure to sew on
correctly. Press seams open.

Cutting Guide for Rotary Cutting
Make a paper template with the enclosed
cutting guide template. Carefully place one
edge of the template along the edge of the
ruler, and tape in place. Using the template
as a guide, cut the strip the same width as
the template.

Cutting 45° Angle Diamonds
Line up the 45° angle on the ruler with the tip edge of set 1.
Trim the edge as shown in Figure 1. After trimming the edge
cut 4 - 1 13 /16" segments as shown in Figure 2. Use a ruler
grided in 1 /16" or use the cutting guide on page 5. Repeat for
set 2 and 3. Trim the edge of set 1R as shown in Figure 3.
Continue cutting as shown in Figure 4. Cut 4 - 1 13 /16"
segments. Repeat for set 2R and 3R.

Sew one each of sets 1, 2, and 3 together to make star
points. Make 4. Press seams open. Sew one each of sets 1R,
2R, and 3R together to make reverse star points. Make 4.

Using the 2 3 /8" x 21" half-strips make 6 strip sets one each of
1, 1R, 2, 2R, 3, & 3R. Sew strips together off-setting the
strips by approximately 2 1 /2" as illustrated below. Press
seams toward the direction of the arrows.

Hint for Sewing Set Together
Seams are not going in the same direction, they cross at
the 1 /4" seam allowance. Pin each intersection. The pin
should be placed where corresponding seams meet. Sew
carefully.
