CONFERENCE 2008<br />

16 -17 October 2008<br />

HOTEL INTERCONTINENTAL SINGAPORE<br />

In an effort to promote a learning and sharing<br />

culture amongst <strong>Library</strong> and Information<br />

Professionals within <strong>the</strong> region, The <strong>National</strong><br />

<strong>Library</strong> Board will be organising a conference<br />

titled Bridging Worlds: Knowing, Learning,<br />

Sharing in October 2008.<br />

Bridging Worlds is a conference which focuses<br />

on <strong>the</strong> contribution of libraries towards<br />

connecting different communities, fostering<br />

global understanding, and dealing with <strong>the</strong><br />

social and information future.<br />

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS<br />

Track 1: <strong>Library</strong> 2.0 Alive!<br />

This track looks at how <strong>Library</strong> 2.0 is being used on a dayto-day<br />

basis, offers practical examples of it at work and asks<br />

if <strong>Library</strong> 2.0 has a future.<br />

Track 2: Libraries: Shape and Form<br />

The shape of libraries is changing whilst it responds to <strong>the</strong><br />

opportunities and demands of <strong>the</strong> next generation.<br />

Track 3: The Finding of Things<br />

The development of social tagging and folksonomies, adds<br />

exponentially to <strong>the</strong> way something can be sought for. This<br />

track looks at this brave new world being created for <strong>the</strong><br />

community by <strong>the</strong> community - does more mean less and<br />

how libraries respond.<br />

Track 4: Our Community, Our Audience<br />

This track looks at communities and audiences asking what<br />

roles libraries play in communities and how <strong>the</strong>y can build<br />

audience share based on <strong>the</strong>se communities, physically and<br />

virtually.<br />
