10. Earnings per share<br />

Basic earnings per share are calculated by dividing the earnings attributable to Ordinary shareholders by the weighted average number of shares in issue<br />

during the year.<br />

For diluted earnings per share, the weighted average number of shares in issue is adjusted to assume conversion of all potential dilutive shares.<br />

The company has only one category of potential dilutive shares: those share options granted to employees where the exercise price is less than the<br />

average market price of the company’s shares during the year <strong>and</strong> where any performance conditions have been met at the balance sheet date.<br />

Adjusted earnings per share (excluding exceptional items) are presented in order to show the underlying earnings performance of the Group.<br />
