Gustavo Heredia Sapien provided reports on activities
of Bosque Modelo, A.C., and M.V.Z. Gerardo
Zamora provided information on collections of Río
Yaqui and Río Fuerte native trouts now in captivity
at El Zarco trout hatchery near Mexico City. Bernie
Schermetzler helped with research in the Leopold
Archives. George Ferguson, Michael Graybrook, John
Hatch, Rogelio Otto, and others kindly provided localities
and other information about their findings of
native trout in Mexico.
The first author enjoyed many fruitful discussions
with Dr. W.L. Minckley regarding the biogeography
and evolution of trouts and other components of the
fish fauna of northwestern Mexico. Minckley made
many useful comments regarding various aspects of
this work, but unfortunately passed away before the
manuscript was drafted. Dr. Robert Rush Miller also
shared many insights regarding the evolution and
ecology of the area’s fish fauna with the first author.
