Five other publications prepared by the Texas <strong>Groundwater</strong> Protection Committee<br />

address the issues of the state's complex set of groundwater protection programs <strong>and</strong><br />

address the coordination <strong>and</strong> improvement of these various programs to best protect the<br />

state's groundwater resources.<br />

Texas Ground Water Protection Strategy, February 2003, <strong>TCEQ</strong> Publication No. AS-<br />

188, offers a guide for developing new programs <strong>and</strong> improving cooperation <strong>and</strong><br />

coordination among agencies <strong>and</strong> programs. Goals for new programs <strong>and</strong> improvements<br />

are set out in a number of important groundwater program areas. This publication<br />

updates <strong>and</strong> supercedes Texas Ground Water Protection Strategy, January 1988.<br />

Texas Ground-Water Data Dictionary, August, 1996, describes a st<strong>and</strong>ardized<br />

framework for collecting <strong>and</strong> storing information on groundwater in Texas. The<br />

production <strong>and</strong> development of the data dictionary took a proactive approach to consider<br />

data sharing <strong>and</strong> data quality in view of three recent technological advances: distributed<br />
