and the whole scene bleeds out, deflates, flattens under
foot, to be rolled tight and returned to the shelf in the wardrobe.
And the truth of metaphor being that it too emphasises
a community of sameness.
The ludicrous individual communes in their discrete
sameness to every other ludicrous individual.
As it is with metaphor.
Each of these pathetic figurations performing precisely
the same speech concerning the insignificance of differences
in this world, delivered via a cluster of mics adorned with the
logos of new media corporations.
And
it’s these kinds of thoughts that really fucking
upset me. That add yet another weight, however seemingly insignificant,
to the top of the teetering pile that sits on me, us,
us; determining to flatten every apparently unique gesture and
until ‘I’ are and destroyed. And though I do appreciate the need
to redress or at least to significantly and structurally critique
the rather understated idea – what amounts to jurisprudence
– that humans cannot exist without the world nor the world
without humans – I DO – the truth is that this call for assessment
of the world without or before or after or apart from ME
simply presents to me, simply, with the already self-evident
