CARUSEL AL SENZAŢIILOR ȘI AROMELOR
CAROUSEL OF SENSATIONS AND FLAVORS
gusta licorile miraculoase preparate aici.
Don’t forget that Lyon is at the heart of one of the most famous
wine areas in France, between Beaujolais to the north and
Cotes du Rhone to the south, so don’t miss any opportunity to
taste the wonderful elixirs prepared here. White or red, fruity or
with mysterious, supple aroma, sprinkling or settled, with a
noble elegance of taste, the wines from this area reveal a style
of life in perfect harmony with nature.
Also, prepare to have your mouth water, for Lyon hosts some
of the best restaurants in the world and local culinary art
masters have made history. It’s not by accident that the city
earned its fame as gastronomy center. You won’t be able to
say no to the miraculous dishes served in ‘bouchons,’ the
typical restaurants here.
In the first half of the past century, recipes handed down
from one generation to the next have helped open small
family businesses. Skilled housewives opened such small
restaurants, having confidence in their cooking talents. The
first who began serving traditional goodies to those who
visited her was ‘Mamma’ Guy, followed by Fiilox, Brazier,
Bourgeois and Lea.
The principle at the foundation of such a restaurant’s
success still exists nowadays. Once you set foot in such a
restaurant, you feel like you are invited to have an extremely
savory meal in the home of some friends. The menu
includes pork, “Cervelles de Canuts”, soft cheese with
herbs, the Lyonaise salad, “Petit sale”, ham with lentils, the
“Quenelles” – dumplings made of a mixture of butter,
semolina and fish, “poullarde demi-deuil” – chicken with
black truffles, and the list can go on. All these marvels are
served with regional wines, at available prices.
Lured by the flavor of ‘bouchons’ dishes and by the precision
of tastes you encounter in these restaurants, turned into real
temples of culinary art, awarded with Michelin stars, you will be
tempted to forget all about dieting. L’Alexandrin greets you with
traditional sauces of herbs, aromas and the Bresse chicken with
vinegar. Le Sud is a real feast offered by famous chef Paul
Bocuse, with recipes from Mediterranean and African cuisine,
couscous, lasagna, chicken. Cafe Comptoir Abel invites you to
step inside an extraordinary environment, with local wines and
a helping of kidney in Madeira sauce. It’s definitely worth trying!
As for hotels, Lyon caters to all tastes and needs. La Tour Rose
is located in the old city area, and has a romantic air about it,
with its twelve rooms decorated in different styles, each with
its own personality. Maison d’hotes du Greillon is located on
Fourviere hill and offers an excellent view of the city.
