Lor Regele Mihai şi Regina Ana, Alteţa Sa Regală Principele
Radu, uneori se alătură surorile Principesei şi familile lor.
Anul acesta este aşteptat şi Principele Nicolae, fiul Principesei
Elena. Majestăţile Lor Regele Mihai şi Regina Ana sunt cei
răsfăţaţi, grija pregătirilor de Crăciun cade în sarcina
Principesei Margareta şi a Principelui Radu.
În ajun se pregăteşte pomul de Crăciun, sunt primiţi colindătorii
care vin de departe să le vadă pe Majestăţile Lor şi pe Alteţele
Lor Regale, se pregăteşte masa. În amintirea Crăciunului
petrecut la distanţă de casă, o parte dintre preparate vin din
Anglia şi Italia. Este deja o tradiţie să se pregătească „Christmas
Pudding“, desertul tradiţional în Marea Britanie. Cumpărat cu
câteva săptămâni înainte – anul acesta Principele Nicolae ar
trebui să aducă vasul mare cu desertul gata să fie pregătit – se
fierbe câteva ore, timp în care are loc
o competiţie inedită. Există două
creme delicioase care se servesc
împreună cu „Christmas Pudding“.
„Brandy Butter“, un amestec de
zahăr, unt şi coniac şi „Zabaglione“,
o cremă cu ou și zahăr, tipic
italienească. Invitaţii la masă nu se
pot decide însă niciodată care dintre
creme este cea mai bună.
În seara de Crăciun, toţi colaboratorii
Casei Regale care se află la
Săvârşin se strâng în jurul pomului de
Crăciun alături de prietenii Casei
Regale unde primesc cu toţii cadouri. A doua zi urmează slujba
de Crăciun, la biserica din Săvârşin sau la Catedrala din
Timişoara.
Ziua continuă cu noi alaiuri de colindători care, alături de
copiii din sat, primesc pachetele pregătite cu grijă cu câteva
zile înainte. Crăciunul se încheie cu distribuirea pachetelor
către familiile defavorizate din zona Săvârşinului, un obicei
devenit tradiţie. Anul acesta vor fi oferite 400 de astfel de
pachete. Uneori, însuşi Majestatea Sa Regele Mihai este cel
care merge şi înmânează cadourile de Crăciun celor cărora
soarta nu le zâmbeşte. Dar cel mai important, castelul de la
Săvârşin este deschis tuturor de Sărbători.

Este doar o parte din activitatea de caritate pe care Casa
Regală o desfășoară în această perioadă. Cea mai mare parte

Christmas – Their Royal Majesties King Mihai and Queen Ana,
His Royal Highness Prince Radu and sometimes even the
Princess’s sisters and their families. This year, Prince Nicolae,
son of Princess Elena, is also expected to attend. Their Royal
Highnesses King Mihai and Queen Ana are the ‘pampered’
ones, as Princess Margareta and Prince Radu are the ones who
take care of all preparations.
On the eve, the Christmas tree is decorated, the family greets
carolers who come from afar to see Their Royal Majesties and
Highnesses and the meal is cooked. In memory of past
Christmases spent far from home, part of the ingredients and
food comes from England and Italy. It’s already become tradition
to have the specific Great Britain dessert, the ‘Christmas
Pudding.’ Bought a few weeks in advance – this year it is Prince
Nicolae who should bring the big
bowl with the dessert to be
cooked. The composition has to
be boiled for a few hours and in
that time, an unusual competition
is held. There are two delicious
creams that can be served with the
Christmas Pudding: Brandy Butter,
a mixture of sugar, butter and
brandy, and Zabaglione, a typically
Italian cream of eggs and sugar.
And the guest can never decide
which of the two is better. On
Christmas evening, all collaborators
of the Royal House at Săvârșin gather around the Christmas tree
together with the friends of the Royal House, receiving gifts. The
second day, everybody attends the Christmas service, either at
the Săvârșin church or at the Timișoara Cathedral.The day
continues with new groups of carolers joined by local village
children. They receive packages prepared by the family a few
days before. Christmas ends with the distribution of packages
to disadvantaged families living in the Săvârșin area, an event
that has become tradition. This year, 400 such packages were
prepared. Sometimes, even His Majesty King Mihai goes in
person to hand out Christmas gifts to those that fate does not
smile upon. But the most important thing is that the Săvârșin
castle is open to everybody for the holidays.

BEAUTIFUL GIFT
This is only a part of the Royal House’s charity work this time of
the year. Most Christmas projects focus on the others and are
