Treci de galeria de artă şi de Salonul Alb, apoi laşi în urmă Sala Regilor, cu parchetul său frumos lustruit, şi pătrunzi în inima caldă a clădirii, acolo unde se află aparamentele private. Bine ai venit la palat! Orice întâlnire cu Alteţa Sa Regală Principesa Margareta stă sub semnul emoţiei fireşti, oricât de informală se doreşte. În după-amiaza de noiembrie în care am fost primită în Salonul cu Bârne, pretextul a fost proaspăt lansata „Carte Regală de Bucate“. În faţa unui ceşti de ceai şi cuprinse de căldura plăcută ce venea din şemineu, conversaţia ne-a purtat de la gastronomie şi pasiunea pentru această artă, la poveştile de Crăciun şi până la proiectul de suflet al Alteţei Sale Regale, Fundaţia Principesa Margareta a României. At the end of a narrow alley flanked by trees and a simple wicker fence, a massive cast iron door keeps the city’s hustle and bustle away from the Elisabeta palace, the Royal Family residence. Go through the art gallery and the White Room and leave the Hall of Kings with its carefully polished floor behind you, to enter the warm heart of the building, where the private suites are located. Welcome to the palace! Any meeting with Her Royal Highness Princess Margareta is naturally under the sign of emotion, no matter how informal the meeting is. On the November afternoon when I was received in the Room with Beams, the pretext was the freshly launched “Royal Cookbook.” Over a cup of tea and engulfed by the nice warmth spread by the fireplace, our conversation took us from gastronomy and passion for this art to Christmas tales and to her Royal Highness’s pet project, the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation. CARTEA DE BUCATE CU AROMĂ REGALĂ Puţină lume şi-ar imagina că şi principesele gătesc. Şi totuşi, Alteţa Sa Regală Principesa Margareta a avut o sumedenie de argumente în sprijinul ideii de a scrie o carte de bucate cu adevărat regală. În primul rând, ospitalitatea este un cuvânt cheie în ritualul şi acţiunile publice ale Casei Regale. Apoi, tradiţiile şi obiceiurile unei familii cu ramificaţii la principalele Case Regale ale Europei adaugă farmec oricărei colecţii de reţete. Nu în ultimul rând, pasiunea pentru gastronomie a autoarei este garanţia succesului oricărei întreprinderi de acest tip. Alteţa Sa Regală a decoperit în studenţie plăcerea şi relaxarea oferite de o după-amiază în faţa oalelor aburinde, combinând cu ingeniozitate diverse gusturi şi condimente. Avea 19 ani şi era departe de casă, plecată la Universitatea din Edinburgh, Scoţia. Atunci s-a aflat în ipostaza de a-şi pregăti singură masa. Still, Her Royal Highness Princess Margareta had a multitude of reasons for her decision to write a truly royal cookbook. First of all, hospitality is a key word in the Royal house’s ritual and public actions. Then, the traditions and customs of a family that hails from the most important Royal Houses of Europe add extra charm to any recipe collection. Last but not least, the author’s passion for gastronomy is the guarantee of success for any enterprise of the kind. When she was a student, Her Royal Highness discovered the pleasure and relaxation offered by an afternoon in front of steamy pots, ingeniously combining various tastes and spices.
