LOCAL MEDICAL OFFICER FEE SCHEDULE<br />

1 November 2011<br />

The Local <strong>Medical</strong> Officer <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule lists fees <strong>for</strong> medical attendances and consultations<br />

provided by general practitioners participating in DVA’s Local <strong>Medical</strong> Officer (LMO) Scheme.<br />

LMOs will be paid at 115% <strong>of</strong> the listed MBS fee plus the relevant Veterans Access Payment (VAP)<br />

or where applicable the Rural Enhancement Initiative (REI) loading.<br />

The VAP can be claimed using the Medicare Bulk Billing Incentive item numbers as follows:<br />

• Items 10990, 64990 and 74990 are to be used when claiming the $6.90 VAP; and<br />

• Items 10991, 10992, 64991 and 74991 when claiming the $10.45 VAP.<br />

Please note that VAP is not payable on items provided to inpatients <strong>of</strong> a hospital or day surgery,<br />

Coordinated Veterans’ Care Program UP items and Telehealth consultation items. Items 10990,<br />

10991 and 10992 are VAP incentives and are paid at 100% <strong>of</strong> the MBS fee.<br />

Derived fees are indicated by a “D” in the column <strong>of</strong> the Schedule. Please refer to the derived fees<br />

section <strong>of</strong> the booklet <strong>for</strong> benefit calculation.<br />

The REI loading is available to LMOs who provide services to veterans in designated rural public<br />

hospitals by State or Territory governments. The REI only applies to those In Hospital items indicated<br />

in the Local <strong>Medical</strong> Officer <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule. The REI loading is an additional 10% <strong>of</strong> the LMO fee.<br />

For items not listed in the LMO schedule please refer to the appropriate schedule in this booklet.<br />

• For all specialist attendances and consultations, investigative and general medical<br />

procedures claim from the Repatriation <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule.<br />

• For In Hospital anaesthetic services please use Relative Value Guide <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule.<br />

• For diagnostic imaging services claim from the Diagnostic Imaging <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule.<br />

• For pathology services claim from the Pathology <strong>Fee</strong> Schedule.<br />
