WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST of Fine Arts in Directing from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Peter-Rothstein.com JASON HANSEN (Music Director) has worked regularly in theatres across the Twin Cities and is excited to be making his debut with Theater Latté Da. He has held positions of music director, composer, and performer at The Children’s Theatre Company (TAT Program), Mixed Blood (Next To Normal, Avenue Q), Guthrie Theater (BFA Program), Open Eye Figure Theatre, and Eagan Community Theatre. Jason is the music director for the Twin Citiesbased rockin’ senior choir Alive and Kickin’ and will direct two showcases of their work this spring at Bloomington Civic Theatre and Old Arizona. He is also heavily involved in the Twin Cities community, directing and arranging music for various bands and choirs. As a composer, Jason is involved in the songwriting collaborative Prosody. MICHAEL MATTHEW FERRELL (Choreographer) is the 2007 Ivey Award recipient for choreography and was named Best Choreographer of 2010 by Lavender Magazine for Theater Latté Da’s production of Evita. Other Theater Latté Da credits include choreography for Parade, Gypsy, The Rink, Passage of Dreams, The Full Monty, Evita, …Spelling Bee and Company and assistant director for Spring Awakening. Other works include Ragtime at Park Square Theatre; Wizard of Oz, Annie, Tommy, …Spelling Bee, Disney’s High School Musical, A Year With Frog and Toad, and Fashion 47 at The Children’s Theatre Company; Cats, Annie, The Sound of Music, Camelot, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, Can-Can, Forever Plaid, and Good News! at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Grand Night for Singing, and Broadway’s Legendary Ladies at the Ordway Center; and 42nd Street and Oklahoma! at Bloomington Civic Theatre. Michael is also the Founder and Director of the Twin Cities newest musical ensemble Alive & Kickin’. JOEL SASS (Set Designer) is an award-wining director/designer making his Theater Latté Da debut in Aida. Joel’s work has been seen at the Guthrie Theater, the Jungle Theater, The Children’s Theatre Company, Park Square, History Theatre, Mixed Blood, the Arizona Theatre Company, California Shakespeare Theater, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 14 PLAYBILL among others. For eight years he was Artistic Director of the award-winning Mary Worth Theater Company (1994-2003). He is the recipient of the Alan Schneider Award for directing, a McKnight Theater Artist Fellowship, and IVEY Awards for his Jungle productions The Last of the Boys and Mary’s Wedding. Later this winter he will direct Venus in Fur for the Jungle Theater. TULLE & DYE (Costume Designer) are designing for the first time with Theater Latté Da. They have designed or produced costumes for Beauty and the Beast, Grey Gardens, Yankee Doodle, Singin’ in the Rain, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Blues in the Night, Cinderella, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and others at the Ordway. They have also worked on the production of Mulan, Jr., at The Children’s Theatre Company; Guys and Dolls, Seattle’s 5 th Avenue Theater; Amen Corner, Guthrie Theater, Pagliacci, Mill City Opera. Dance companies they’ve designed for include Alvin Ailey, Sewell Ballet, Minnesota Dance Theatre, Zenon Dance, St. Paul City Ballet, Minnesota Ballet, Ballet of the Dolls. Corporate works include Target, Macy’s, Dayton’s, BI World Wide and Larson Communications. MARCUS DILLIARD (Lighting Designer) designed the lighting for Theater Latté Da’s productions of Song of Extinction, Violet, The Full Monty, All Is Calm, Old Wicked Songs and Susannah. He has designed for theater and opera across North America and in Europe, including numerous productions for the Guthrie Theater, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, The Minnesota Opera and the Minnesota Orchestra. He has also designed lighting for productions at The Children’s Theatre Company, Ordway, American Repertory Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, The Athens Festival, Portland Opera, San Diego Opera, the Spoleto Festival (Italy), Flanders Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera de Montreal, Canadian Opera Company, Chicago Opera Theater, and Boston Lyric Opera. Marcus is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and is the Head of the Design Program in the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. SEAN HEALEY (Sound Designer) is the Resident Sound Designer for the Jungle Theater and Open Eye Figure Theatre. Sean’s other recent credits include The 500 Hats of
Bartholomew Cubbins, The Wizard of Oz, and The Cat in the Hat at The Children’s Theatre Company. He was awarded an Ivey Award in 2009 for his work on the Joel Sass helmed Shipwrecked! at the Jungle Theater. Sean recently produced the upcoming debut album from local folk-rockers Annie Enneking and the Bang Bang. He received a B.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts. TIFFANY K. ORR (Production Stage Manager) staged managed Spring Awakening, Beautiful Thing, All Is Calm, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Song of Extinction, Evita and A Christmas Carole Peterson at Theater Latté Da. Originally from Oklahoma, Tiffany received her B.A. in Technical Theatre from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2004. After graduation, she spent two seasons with Phoenix Theatre in Phoenix, AZ, where she became a proud member of The Actors’ Equity Association. She also enjoys spending her summers in Wichita, KS, with Music Theatre of Wichita. While in the Twin Cities, she has also had the opportunity to work with the Guthrie Theater (A View from the Bridge), The Children’s Theatre Company (Fashion 47), Pillsbury House Theatre (Bulrusher, No Child…, Playlist, King of Shadows), and Penumbra Theatre (A Raisin in the Sun). JASON ALLYN-SCHWERIN (Technical Director) is the technical director for Penumbra Theatre Company. His previous Theater Latté Da credits include Old Wicked Songs, A Christmas Carole Petersen, All Is Calm, Passage of Dreams, The Full Monty, Violet, Evita, Song of Extinction, …Spelling Bee, Beautiful Thing and Company. Jason has worked with the Ordway Center, Mill City Summer Opera, Mixed Blood and SteppingStone Theatre. Additionally, he worked at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Penumbra Theatre’s production of I Wish You Love and was Head Carpenter for the Tokyo run of Broadway Asia’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Creative and Performing Arts from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa; has studied at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities; and has a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas – Austin. WHO’S WHO DYLAN WRIGHT (Production Manager) serves as production manager for Theater Latté Da and Illusion Theater. He also works as a lighting designer around the Twin Cities. Recent credits include Two Sugars, Room for Cream at the New Century Theater, Miss Richfield 1981 at Illusion Theater, Sound of Music with Black Dirt Theater. BENJAMIN SHAW (Assistant Director) returns to the Twin Cities having assisted Peter Rothstein on Theater Latté Da’s Evita and assistant directed End of the Rainbow at the Guthrie Theater. He is a co-founder of Two Turns Theatre Company, which produces theatre in historic spaces; their inaugural production of Jeffrey Hatcher’s Turn of the Screw played at the Merchant's House Museum, NYC’s oldest preserved home. Upcoming: The Glass Menagerie at the American Repertory Theatre. A graduate of Muhlenberg College, Benjamin grew up in Pittsburgh. MEAGHAN ROSENBERGER (Assistant Stage Manager) originally from Houston, Texas, is excited to be working with Theater Latté Da. She has previously worked with Latté Da on a workshop of Steerage Song. Other assistant stage management credits include: Tales from Hollywood, Time Stands Still, Charley’s Aunt, Caretaker, Happy Days, and Tiny Kushner: An Evening of Short Plays at the Guthrie Theater; The 2010 – 2011 National Tour of The Comedy of Errors and Romeo & Juliet with The Acting Company. Stage Management credits include: Jomama Jones: Radiate Live at the Pillsbury House Theatre and The K of D at the Illusion Theater. Meaghan graduated with a B.F.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. JOHN THEW (Managing Director, Theater Latté Da) is the former Director of Development and former Director of Public Relations for New York’s Tony Award-winning Second Stage Theatre. Throughout his tenure at the Second Stage, he led all aspects of the company’s fundraising and public relations efforts resulting in six consecutive years of growth. John is also a former Production Manager for Twin Cities Public Television and has an extensive background advising Minnesota-based corporations in the areas of sales, leadership, and customer service.
