HUMAN RESOURCES (STAFFING)
Angela Dunn continued as the Club Administrator for the year, but has since resigned to further her career as an artist
with her love for painting pictures as the guiding influence. Special thanks to Angela for her valuable contribution over
the past six years. Dipak Patel remained Director of Coaching and Roland Phillips as General Manager. Casual paid
employees included the bar staff and Academy coaching staff. The Accounting and Treasury function of the Board was
again fulfilled on a voluntary basis by Virginia Hughes as head of the Finance & Admin Committee.
Our sincere thanks to all our volunteers who make substantial contributions with administration (Liaison Officers and
committee members), coaching, umpiring, scoring and general support.
WHITE CROSS PRIMARY SCHOOLBOYS CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT
The annual White Cross Primary School Boys District Tournament for cricketers in year 8 and below was again hosted by
HPCC at Lloyd Elsmore Park from the 27 th to 31 st December. The organisation and running of this event was again top
class and thanks must go to all those who assisted in ensuring that this tournament continues to be a success.
This year the two Manukau teams were again dominant over their opposition with both teams comfortably winning their
respective sections. HPCC again had a good representation of players in the two Auckland teams that were selected from
the tournament and both the Auckland teams were captained by HPCC players.
CRICKET WEEK
The week commenced with our annual clash against Cornwall for our junior tournament teams from year 4 to year 7 –
again Cornwall proved too strong for us and retained the trophy. We again hosted a local round of the primary schools
competition (Tuesday), had the local secondary schools T/20 games (Wednesday) and Monday night Twilight Cricket
also continued as well as the state of origin games (Thursday). Friday night games for juniors at our “picnic in the park”
evening is proving to be a great success. The week ended with the hosting of our Junior Quadrangular tournament in
which the teams managed to win back the trophy from University.
TWILIGHT CRICKET
Twilight cricket successfully continues to be a way for those who can’t make all day Saturday to still get in some fun
cricket. This year we tried a Thursday and Wednesday evening on top of the normal Monday nights and six additional
teams entered taking the number of teams this year to eighteen. Special thanks to our Twilight sponsor, David
McCullough from Ron Enright Tools, for again running a great competition.
