The mission of The Conference Center
at Shippensburg University is to increase
public awareness and showcase amenities of
Shippensburg University while serving to meet
the needs of both internal and external communities
by providing both high quality and
good value facilities and services to businesses,
organizations, associations and individuals for
meetings, conferences and social events. We
strive to enhance economic development in
the region by working as a business and community
partner with local and regional agencies
and companies.

The primary role of Conference Services
is to generate funds for the University, athletics,
the University Foundation, and Student
Services, and to gain positive community exposure.
The office promotes the use of campus
facilities by community, church or business
groups during the summers and throughout
the academic year, offering the region a tremendous
resource for many purposes and
to meet many needs. Facilities and services
include athletic and recreation facilities, the
University’s Conference Center, academic facilities,
and the Ceddia Union Building.
We offer nine residence halls, an array of
classroom and meeting facilities, media services,
and a full complement of athletic and
recreational facilities to organized groups for
a weekend or for a week of on-campus experiences.
The conference program is growing to
expand beyond the summer season and into the
academic school year. Air-conditioned, apartment
style lodging is available during the summers,
and our partnership with the Shippen
Place Hotel in downtown Shippensburg, just
minutes from campus, provides additional
lodging options.
The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts
Center is now in its second full year of operation.
The Luhrs Center is an aesthetically
attractive, convenient, and technologically
advanced venue for an effective an impressive
conference or program. A variety of cultural
programs are offered at the Performing Arts
Center, complementing the other campus facilities.
The Orrstown Bank Lobby in the performing
arts center is an impressive venue for
dinners, receptions and other special events.
Each summer, the University hosts over
90 conferences, workshops, youth athletic
camps, and academic camps. Special events
and camps include the annual PIAA Track
and Field Championships, PIAA Softball
Championships, and LHU Wrestling. The
University’s summer camp program features
30 camps that attract 1,600 youths from
across a five state region. We hosted over 50
conferences attracting over 9,000 participants.
Throughout the year, local businesses, nonprofit
and governmental groups utilize campus
facilities and equipment for events both large
and small.
