campaigns <strong>and</strong> their methods, including support for collective disobedience.<br />
Debt, usury, <strong>and</strong> unjust financial systems designed to accumulate wealth<br />
for the rich at the expense of the poor require both a prophetic <strong>and</strong> spiritual<br />
response from the churches. Jesus’ warning that we cannot serve both<br />
God <strong>and</strong> mammon requires an even deeper examination of our discipleship<br />
as communities of faith.<br />
For further reflection:<br />
Are we so complicit with the system of international finance <strong>and</strong><br />
investments that we are in fact ensnared in service to mammon<br />
<strong>and</strong> being unfaithful in our radical service to the God of life?<br />
Are we really in a position to love God <strong>and</strong> our neighbour as we<br />
love ourselves?
