Rent arrears
Alan McKeown, Head of Housing, would like to take
this opportunity to wish you well for the festive
season and new year.
Particular thanks to everyone that’s kept their rent
account in order in the last six months. Well done to
anyone with arrears who’s been in touch with us to
talk over their rent arrears, who has made an agreement
with us to pay what they can afford when they
get paid.
Christmas is coming–you should
spend some money on presents,
food and good cheer but don’t
forget the rent!
paid regularly and do not have an arrangement,
we would notify you that your Christmas mail will
contain either arrears letters, notices for recovery
of possession or summons to court and your local
Housing Officer will be visiting you in the near future.
There are no hiding places.
It is essential that you repay any outstanding arrears
and you can agree a repayment plan with your
Housing Officer.
Your security of tenure is based on
you paying your rent in accordance
with your tenancy agreement. You
can make affordable arrangements
to repay debt and you will have one
less worry and a happy home during
Christmas and New Year.
The first step can be the hardest,
so do not hide from the problem,
deal with it!
If you are worried or concerned
about the situation with your rent
account, contact your local ACCESS
office or an officer from your local
community housing team. •
