Our home building programme
We’ve embarked on an ambitious
building programme to provide
147 new council houses to help
reduce the housing waiting
list. Working
in partnership
with the Scottish
Government, we
received funding
of £3.8m which,
along with an
investment of
£17.6m from our own
resources, will give the
social housing sector
in Angus a much-needed
boost.
Funding of more than £21m
enables us to realise our vision
of building quality affordable
and energy efficient homes for
rent and to buy in areas of highest
need in Angus while providing
an important boost to the construction
industry and in turn the local economy.
Housing policy manager John Morrow
comments: “These, and future developments,
will make a real difference to the
lives of families and individuals across
Angus by increasing the number of affordable
properties available for rent.”
“We will be looking to create a domino
effect in terms of allocations, by creating a
chain of moves so that the number of new
tenancies will be double the number of
new-build houses. This will start to make a
considerable impact on the housing waiting
list.” •
