Teachers Resource Manual<br />
Activities and Demonstrations<br />
This manual has four topics that make up the<br />
class activities. There are 2-4 activities and/or<br />
demonstrations for each topic with some<br />
challenging extension activities for advanced<br />
classes. Each activity is rated with one of the<br />
following difficulty levels: basic (grades 3-4),<br />
moderate (grades 4-5), and advanced (grades 5-6).<br />
There are worksheets, puzzles, and answer keys at<br />
the end of the manual.<br />
Topic 1: Getting into space<br />
Students learn how Newton’s third law allows<br />
rockets to overcome the force of gravity and achieve<br />
liftoff.<br />
Topic 2: Living in space<br />
Students explore the challenges of orbital<br />
debris and living in microgravity.<br />
Topic 3: Space technology<br />
Students perform the tasks normally<br />
programmed into devices used in space exploration.<br />
Topic 4: Space phenomena<br />
Students discover the science knowledge<br />
required to gather information in space.<br />
