Radio frequencies sent out by the communications officer to make contact with<br />
another space faring vessel or planet.<br />
Starfleet General Order #1. This is the most important rule that all members of<br />
Starfleet must follow. The Prime Directive forbids any member of Starfleet to interfere<br />
with the development of any society they encounter. An example would be<br />
to give a less-developed planet the technology for building a warp drive engine.<br />
A race of humanoid beings derived from Vulcans. Romulans rejected the philosophy<br />
of logic that Vulcans follow. They are a warrior civilization. Romulans are<br />
considered passionate, aggressive, but honorable people.<br />
The Star Trek equivalent of calendar years. This timekeeping system standardizes<br />
time for travelers all across the galaxy.<br />
The agency chartered by the United Federation of Planets to conduct missions in<br />
deep space. These missions involved seeking out new life, conducting science,<br />
exploration, and going where no one has gone before.<br />
Space-going vessel that is capable of traveling faster than the speed of light.<br />

Warp drive engine<br />
Fictional furry animals that breed very quickly. Tribbles will continuously multiply so<br />
long as food is available.<br />
Designation given to all Federation starships. The initials stand for United Space<br />
Ship.<br />
Race of humanoid beings from the planet Vulcan. Their pacifist society is based<br />
on logic. Vulcans in Star Trek were the first extraterrestrials to make contact with<br />
humans on Earth.<br />
The starship engine that allows the vessel to travel faster than the speed of light.<br />
Wormhole<br />
A space anomaly that links two distant parts of the universe. Wormholes may also<br />
link two time periods together.<br />
