Competitive Fitness Swimmers and You!<br />

more information. Promotes fun, physical<br />
fitness, and fellowship for swimmers<br />
and accommodates all skill levels. Each<br />
swimmer should be able to swim 600<br />
yards. Practices are directed by a coach<br />
on deck who provides expert advice in<br />
training technique, stroke mechanics,<br />
and goal setting.<br />
Once you join, you can swim at any<br />
location during the designated practice<br />
times and locations. For additional<br />

Indy SwimFit Get Wet I: Designed to<br />
help adults overcome fear of water and<br />
acquire basic water awareness skills. This<br />
class is for beginner swimmers and focuses<br />
on being comfortable in the water and<br />
will let swimmers progress at their own<br />
pace in acquiring skills such as floating,<br />
seeing underwater, changing positions in<br />
the water, and treading water. Also, goes<br />
over beginning swimming skills such as<br />
freestyle breathing, body position and<br />
basic arm motions.<br />

Indy SwimFit Get Wet II: Helps adults<br />
acquire basic swimming skills for fitness<br />
or triathlon. For beginning, it focuses<br />
on endurance and breathing skills in<br />
freestyle swimming. A great class for<br />
people who have never had or do not<br />
remember having any organized swim<br />
lessons. Class participants need to be<br />
comfortable in both shallow and deep<br />
water, be comfortable putting your head<br />
underwater, have comfort in front and<br />
back floating, and be ready to start or<br />
refine freestyle swimming.<br />

Indy SwimFit Stay Wet: Helps newer<br />
swimmers and returning swimmers<br />
develop/refine their strokes, introduces<br />
additional strokes when applicable, gains<br />
confidence and increases endurance.<br />
This is accomplished through a series of<br />
commonly used, progressive drills and<br />
through ‘mini-sets’ to familiarize the<br />
swimmers with pool workouts, etiquette<br />
and pace clock. Class participants must<br />
be able to swim 50 yards (non-stop) of<br />
freestyle or breaststroke with a strong<br />
recommendation to attend Get Wet 2<br />
prior to taking this class.<br />
