Workshop Teaser
Duration: ~ 5 – 6 hours
General: Optional activity, 10-12 students, two Accenture representatives
Goal of the session: Students have gained insights how IT strategy is applied in practice and how a IT Strategy project looks like within Accenture.
Furthermore the workshop has shown how IT innovations have the power to help people in need.
Workshop Context: The CIO of a world leading “Not-for-Profit” organization has asked a team of consultants to come in helping him to evaluate
the use of Cloud Computing to improve their current IT environment. The organization had recently some challenges to cope with the spiking
demand in case of humanitarian disasters like Haiti or Japan.
Workshop Task: Students are asked to screen relevant documentation that has been given to them by the CIO. The CIO is interested which parts of
his business will harness the most from Cloud Computing and how the new technology will not only increase his ability to scale IT services fast but
also how it serves the overall mission of the organization.
Agenda:
1. Introduction to Accenture
2. Introduction to the case (client information, …)
3. Working on the case in groups of ~5 students with guidance of
the Accenture representatives
4. Presentation and discussion of the groups‘ results
5. Final discussion of Accenture‘s approach to the project
Approach:
Information material is handed out that students need to screen to
understand the following:

− Overall mission of the Not-for-Profit organization
− Challenges of the organization

− Application & Infrastructure Portfolio
− Process Landscape
− Project Portfolio
− IT Budget
