PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency is the national <strong>in</strong>stitute for strategic policy analyses <strong>in</strong> the fields of the<br />
environment, nature and spatial plann<strong>in</strong>g. We contribute to improv<strong>in</strong>g the quality of political and adm<strong>in</strong>istrative decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
by conduct<strong>in</strong>g outlook studies, analyses and evaluations <strong>in</strong> which an <strong>in</strong>tegrated approach is considered paramount. Policy relevance<br />
is the prime concern <strong>in</strong> all our studies. We conduct solicited and unsolicited research that is both <strong>in</strong>dependent and always scientifically<br />
sound.<br />
As the Commission’s <strong>in</strong>-house science service, the Jo<strong>in</strong>t Research Centre’s mission is to provide EU policies with <strong>in</strong>dependent,<br />
evidence-based scientific and technical support throughout the whole policy cycle. Work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> close cooperation with policy<br />
Directorates-General, the JRC addresses key societal challenges while stimulat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>novation through develop<strong>in</strong>g new methods,<br />
tools and standards, and shar<strong>in</strong>g its know-how with the Member States, the scientific community and <strong>in</strong>ternational partners. Key<br />
policy areas <strong>in</strong>clude: environment and climate change; energy and transport; agriculture and food security; health and consumer<br />
protection; <strong>in</strong>formation society and digital agenda; safety and security, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g nuclear; all supported through a cross-cutt<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
multidiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary approach.
