LOMOHIST Expectorant/Paediatric Dosage Forms/Composition Expectorant Each 5ml contains: Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4mg Ammonium Chloride 120mg Menthol 1.14mg Sodium Citrate 62.5mg Paediatric Each 5ml contains: Dextromethorphan HBr 7.5mg Phenylepherine HCL 5mg Promethazine 1.5mg Pharmacological Index EXPT: Cough expectorant, PD: Cough suppressant INDICATION Cough Drug Interactions Paediatric Alcohol, antithyroid agents such as propylthiouracil or methimazole, barbiturate medicines for inducing sleep or treating seizures (convulsions), bromocriptine, doxercalciferol, furazolidone, linezolid, medicines for anxiety or sleeping problems, medicines for colds, hay fever, or, allergies, medicines for diabetes, medicines for pain such as codeine, hydrocodone, meperidine, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, propoxyphene, and tramadol, MAO inhibitors, such as phenelzine , tranylcypromine , and isocarboxazid , and selegiline, medicines for mental depression, emotional problems, or psychotic disturbances, medicines for movement abnormalities as in Parkinson's disease, muscle relaxants, quinidine, procarbazine, sibutramine metoclopramide, atropine, dicyclomine, glycopyrrolate, hyoscyamine, or propantheline, some medicines for heart rhythm problems, terbinafine, verteporfin and vitamin A (retinol) creams or pills. Mechanism of Action Expectorant It is promoted for cough in respiratory allergic states. It reduces the viscocity and liquefies mucous. Lomohist relieves mucous congestion in throat and respiratory tract. Provides cooling and soothing effect to irritated throat and respiratory tract. Paediatric Dextromethgorphan has central cough suppressant action but it does not feature the untoward effects of the opioids: it doesnt have analgesic, sedating or constipating effects. It has sedative, anti-motion sickness, anti-emetic and anti-cholinergic effects. Promethazine competitively blocks histamine H1 receptors without blocking the secretion of histamine. Phenylephrine is an α-adrenergic receptor agonist and used primarily as a decongestant. Usual Dosage

5-10 ml 2-3 times a day<br />
