Sorcerers and as Sorcerers are limited to 6 th level.<br />

A Shemite character gains either the berserker ability <strong>of</strong> the Æsir/Vanir OR the<br />

archery abilities <strong>of</strong> the Hyrkanians (save that Shemites do not gain the ability<br />

to fire when mounted or perform split-move and fire on horseback). This<br />

choice must be made at character creation and cannot be changed. On the<br />

down side, Shemites being a fatalistic race, they suffer -1 to all saving throws<br />

<strong>of</strong> any kind.<br />

Stygian: <strong>The</strong> demon-haunted,<br />

proto-Egyptian Stygia, the realm<br />

<strong>of</strong> the serpent god Set, produces<br />

the most feared sorcerers in the<br />

world. <strong>The</strong>y are tall, thin, gaunt,<br />

and brown-skinned with black hair<br />

and black eyes. Stygians gain +1 to<br />

Intelligence and -1 to Strength.<br />

<strong>The</strong>y may progress as Fighting-<br />

Men, Thieves, Assassins, and<br />

Sorcerers, being restricted to 5th<br />

level as Fighting-Men and<br />

Thieves. Stygian Sorcerers always<br />

cast spells as though they were one<br />

rank higher than they are (i.e.<br />

Seers cast as Magicians, Magicians<br />

as Warlocks, etc.), though they are<br />

still restricted as normal regarding<br />

what level <strong>of</strong> spell they may cast.<br />

Tribesman <strong>of</strong> the Black Kingdoms: <strong>The</strong>se cover both the civilized and semicivilized<br />

kingdoms such as Darfar, Keshan, Kush, and Zembabwei, as well as<br />

the primitive tribes that inhabit the southernmost portions <strong>of</strong> the Hyborian<br />

world. <strong>The</strong>y are black-skinned, short and slight <strong>of</strong> stature, and the more<br />

primitive stone-age tribes partake in cannibalism. <strong>The</strong>ir racial characteristics<br />

are the same as those for Picts, save that their bonuses apply to desert or jungle<br />

climes (depending on the tribe; choose at character creation) rather than<br />

forests.<br />

Turanian: Turanians are the ancestors <strong>of</strong> modern Turks, who live on the<br />

western side <strong>of</strong> the Vilayet sea. <strong>The</strong>y share the same racial characteristics as<br />

Hyrkanians.<br />

Vendhyan: <strong>The</strong> ancestors <strong>of</strong> the modern people <strong>of</strong> India, Vendhyans are an<br />

ancient, noble race known for their skill in diplomacy and their complex<br />

philosophies and society. <strong>The</strong>y may progress as Fighting-Men, Thieves,
