Qualification Testing for Microsoft Partners
Ixia’s Professional Services Organization has been
asked by Microsoft to provide access point (AP)
qualification testing for AP vendors that are Microsoft
partner companies. To register as a Microsoft partner
please go to: https://connect.microsoft.com. Once
registered, enter the invitation code: oip-YJ3X-7FK4 in
the lower right corner. This will take you to the Microsoft
Connect page. Click on Downloads. Download the Lync
2013 WiFi Test Plan (v14.0.61). The TDS_Wifi-W15 is
the actual qualification test plan that Ixia will execute
(approximately 110 test cases). The Microsoft test
plan is only available through Microsoft. If you have

Ixia has configured a test lab in Santa Clara, CA that
enables us to test AP devices. Ixia will conduct all tests
in accordance with Microsoft’s approved test plan
(TDS_WifiW14). Each Microsoft Partner (“Vendor”)
will enter into a signed agreement with Ixia. This
agreement will define the expectations of the Vendor
and Ixia during the performance of the testing. Ixia will
establish a two-week (10 business days) window with
each Vendor to enable Ixia testing of a single device.
Ixia’s sole deliverable is completed test results within a
two-week time-window.
Ixia will only test one AP product at a time. If a vendor
has a family of products, it can submit a detailed
architectural diagram for analysis by Ixia, but the final
decision on whether one certification can apply to
more than one model number lies with Microsoft.
10-day High-Level Schedule
• Day 1: Vendor to set up its equipment in the Ixia
test environment and Ixia to start testing
• Days 2-9: Eight days of Ixia testing of AP device
will be allocated (during the testing, Ixia will
provide a private on-site room for the Vendor)
• Day 10: Ixia to finish testing and vendor to tear
down its equipment from the test lab
• Vendor will be notified upon failures of test cases
on a daily basis and given a chance to fix/retest
the issue during the 8-day test window
• Microsoft will NOT be forwarded any failure data,
only a complete set of passed data
• Some APs may complete the qualification in less
than 10 days
• If the test is not completed within the 2-week
window, the Vendor will be given an opportunity to
re-schedule based upon test lab availability (for an
additional, daily charge)

AP Vendor Checklist
Provide a set of APs per Microsoft’s test plan. If it
is a controller-based product, the set will consist
of 3 APs and 1 controller. If it is a controller-less
product, the set will consist of 3 APs.
A 4th AP as a spare is highly recommended.
Include product documentation.
Include all needed connectors/adapters.
Provide an engineer for onsite support that
includes: configuring the APs/controller for testing,
troubleshooting, checking AP logs and displays for
test data and results, monitoring and helping with
the tests. Vendor engineer is not needed 100%
of the time once the test bed works, as not every
test case requires manipulating the AP configs.
However remote support could cause delay when
an issue arises.
As part of the Microsoft Lync Interoperability Test Plan,
there is a list of questions on industry certification,
standards compliance, and some specific features.

Pricing
Ixia will charge the Vendor a flat fee of $12,000USD
per execution of the test plan. The charge will be
billable as of the first day of testing. Each day
required beyond the assigned two-week test window
will be billed at $750 per day and may or may not
be contiguous and are subject to availability of lab
resources. If during the testing, sixty percent of the test
cases fail, Ixia will advise Vendor that the testing will
be terminated and to schedule a new two-week test
window scheduled. Ixia will perform a future two-week
testing at a reduced rate of $10,000.
Scheduling and Ordering
Scheduling will occur on a first-come, first-served basis.
An order is required to confirm the timeslot. In order
to place an order, the vendor should contact David
Frost, Ixia’s Sales Manager for the AP Lync Certification
Program, at dfrost@ixiacom.com. David will work
within Ixia to provide the Vendor with the Master Test
Agreement, which must be signed, as well as a formal
quote. The part number for the Lync Certification Testing is
972-0025 – Professional Services, Solution Services.
Once Ixia has received the order you can contact Ted
Duffy, Professional Services - Project Manager, at tduffy@
ixiacom.com for the next scheduling slot. Cancellation or
date-change must occur at least two business days before
the scheduled start date, otherwise Vendor is billed for
engagement.

Ixia’s Santa Clara lab is located at 3920 Freedom
Circle, Suite 200, Santa Clara, CA 95054. It is
associated with Ixia’s iSimCity customer demonstration
lab. The nearest airport is San Jose International
Airport (SJC). The AP Lync Certification testing
