• Air temperatures are very influential on surface and
groundwater temperatures (Erickson et al., 2000;
Meisner et al., 1988)
• Water temperatures dictate species composition and
cold water habitat supports trout populations
• No published work investigates this relationship in
carbonate systems across watersheds
• Other uses: relate water temperatures to trout growth
patterns and diet; choose study sites when research is
related to water temperature
