Company Overview
ACI Limited is a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical finished formulations and modified release
ready to fill bulk pellets in Bangladesh. ACI manufactures a wide range of dosage forms including tablet,
capsule, dry syrup, powder, cream, ointment, ophthalmic preparations, Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI) and
small volume parenterals in several world-class manufacturing plants. ACI also manufactures ready- tofill
bulk pellets of anti-inflammatory, antiulcerant, cardiovascular, respiratory and neutraceuticals.
ACI was transformed from ICI Plc, a UK based multinational company in 1992 when ICI Plc sold its stakes
and was renamed as Advanced Chemical Industries Ltd. The multinational heritage of ICI is embodied in
the culture of ACI. ACI Limited is a public limited company having stocks traded in all the bourses of
Bangladesh.
Since its inception in 1992, ACI has earned the image of a quality house of pharmaceuticals and achieved
impressive growth. Quality affordable products manufactured in world class manufacturing plants,
diversified product portfolio, fast new product development capability, own R & D facilities to develop
both formulations and ready to fill bulk pellets, innovative and market focused marketing, professional
management and experience in international markets are drivers of ACI's growth.Today ACI is the fastest
growing major pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh. ACI's business today is diverse in its product line
and the breadth of its market participation. ACI has 234 products in 414 dosage forms covering almost all

ACI is the first company in Bangladesh to obtain certification of ISO 9001 Quality Management System in
1995. ACI is also the first Company in Bangladesh to get certification of ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System in 2000. ACI employees are proud of their work culture, business ethics and
environmental consciousness.
ACI's finished dosages have an enviable track record in the domestic pharmaceutical market. Some of
them such as Acical, Floxabid, Fluclox, Revital, Xantid and Xeldrin are among the top brands in
Bangladesh. ACI is the market leader in household hygiene market and its Savlon/ Septex brand is a
household name. All this has been possible because of ACI's innovative product-market strategies. ACI's
finished dosages are exported to a number of countries in Asia, Africa and Central America. ACI is well set
to expand its presence and touch more lives across the world.
ACI is a future driven company. The company is poised to grab the opportunities created and fight the
challenges arising in the marketplace. To take advantage of the opportunities, ACI is introducing both
CFC and non-CFC based Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI), anticancer preparations and steroids in near future.
ACI products are manufactured in five manufacturing units in Narayanganj, 20 kilometers southeast of
capital Dhaka, with strict adherence to the current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) of WHO.
ACI has partnered with some of world's leading pharmaceutical companies. ACI has in-licensing
agreement with French pharmaceutical major Servier. ACI currently manufactures world leading brands
of Servier like Daflon, Diamicron, Duxil and Nutrilix SR in its plants.
Contract manufacturing is another avenue ACI is open to discuss. Advanced manufacturing technology,
quality products and low conversion cost made Bangladesh a unique place for contract manufacturing of
pharmaceutical products. Today ACI contract manufactures a number of ophthalmic preparations of
world's leading pharmaceutical company Novartis. ACI also has partnerships with world renowned
companies AstraZeneca and UCB.
ACI's guiding principle in all it's operations is to be a "responsible corporate citizen". Responsibility for the
society has been incorporated into business processes through guidelines in the form of standard
operating procedures, the code of conduct and corporate culture.
To take this endeavor further, ACI was one of the first companies in Bangladesh to endorse the UN Global
Compact in 2003. The Global Compact principles have been formalized into a policy to guide our day to
day activities. The Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Policy, Quality Policy and Environment Policy are
all reflections of our commitment to responsible corporate behavior.

principles of global compact which ACI endorsed in 2003. The Ten Principles are

ACI and United Nation Global Compact: Partnering in Progress
Ever since we have endorsed the United Nation Global Compact (UNGC), we
have always tried to expand our horizon by embedding its ten principles within
our system. We are also exploring for new dimensions which will not only
strengthen our roots in the GC community but will also take us more close to
the people of Bangladesh.
Our commitments towards UNGC was easily reflected when in 2006 we where
recognized as "Notable Communication on Progress". To further pertain to the
believes in the philosophy of the UNGC we took many initiatives, among which
we have mentioned just few to reach out to our stakeholders to show our
respect towards the great cause. Some of these initiatives are:
Developing and awareness building of comprehensive treatment in the oncology
sector of Bangladesh through training, developing resource center for
knowledge development and improving quality of care.
Abolition of Child Labour within our sphere of influence to protect the right of a
child to have access to education, food and proper livelihood.
New initiatives are also been taken to ensure work place safety at all levels
throughout the company.
As in the past, ACI has always given top priority to 'Quality'. This is also
demonstrated in our new businesses which we have initiated recently by setting
up the manufacturing plant with the state-of-the-art technology and producing
best quality products in its category.
