Sam Hale was Mount Aspiring College’s
highest performing Year 12 academic
student in the national exams in 2005 but,
for the Class Act award, he was particularly
acknowledged for his expertise in music.
Sam’s chosen musical instruments are
the piano and saxophone. While he is
most often seen at school playing the
saxophone his greatest strength is as a
pianist. Sam passed his Royal Schools of
Music Grade 8 piano exam (with Merit)
in October this year. In 2007 he will be
attending the University of Otago to begin
studying towards a degree in medicine.
Louise Jull is a member of the NZ
Junior Kayak Team. She gained a
national title in the New Zealand Age
Group Championships before heading
to Europe and then to the World Junior
Champs in Slovenia. Louise was placed
35th in the World Champs with a best
placing of 5th in the competition in the
Czech Republic. Louise is also a regional
representative in Surf Lifesaving, although
she has had to put that role on hold
during this year in Wanaka. Louise heads
to the University of Otago next year to
begin a marketing course.
