Recycle, Reduce, Reuse- 3R’s<br />

From the <strong>Oshwal</strong> Wednesday Club<br />

Have you ever thought of donating<br />

unwanted items to a charity shop?<br />

Browse around your local charity<br />

shop—you may find something usefull.<br />

Get in the habit of recycling the<br />

plastic milk containers, juice cartons,<br />

tins etc. Into the special recycle bins<br />

provided by the council.<br />

When you go shopping,<br />

take your own bags.<br />

This will cut down on<br />

the amount of plastic<br />

bags we use.<br />

Recycle received<br />

envelopes for<br />

messages and ‘things<br />

to remember’ lists.<br />

Use bed sheets which<br />

are worn out in the<br />

middle for cleaning<br />

rags, making cushion<br />

covers, dishcloths etc.<br />

Dry flowers for pot<br />

pourri.<br />

Cut used household<br />

plastic gloves in strips<br />

to use as rubber bands.<br />

Re-use make up<br />

moisturiser bottles/tubs<br />

for storing different<br />

things.<br />

Replace plastic plates<br />

with paper plates for<br />

meals at party.<br />

Use cardboard toilet roll<br />

inners to make biodegradable<br />

pots as they’re brilliant for<br />

plants that don’t like to have<br />

their roots disturbed.<br />

Old wooden furniture to<br />

give a new lease of life,<br />

sand and paint and<br />

make it your own<br />

masterpiece. Start with<br />

something small.<br />

Use your favorite mug<br />

with broken handle to<br />

store toothbrushes,<br />

toothpaste, eye pencils,<br />

beauty brushes.<br />

Use old T-shirts cut up<br />

for cleaning.<br />

Don’t throw away old<br />

cotton socks with holes in,<br />

use them for cleaning.<br />

• There’s many more. Searching on Google and watching TV programmes like Superscrimpers can give you more<br />

ideas.<br />

• Think before discarding things and see if we can get more use out of it.<br />

• So let’s give ourselves the challenge of being aware of our lifestyle and where we can make changes to implement<br />

the 3R’s.<br />
