The HR 500 CAST reamer produces
surface qualities that until now where
not possible with multi-flute reamers.
With quality casting finishes up to
< Ra 1.6 can be achieved without a
problem, this naturally with the same
high cutting rates. Diameter fluctuations
are a thing of the past with this
tool guaranteeing process reliability
and a reduction in process costs.
qualities and tool life on a level
between a conventional solid carbide
Furthermore, feed rates even superior
to PCD levels can be achieved (see Intermediate sizes on request.
cutting rates and rigid conditions there
is no formation of built-up edges!
Therefore, they enable considerable
They replace the expensive eroding operation of highly accurate ejector bores in hardened steel. Advantage for the customer:
The machining time of in excess of 30 minutes per bore for eroding is reduced to less than 1 second with hard reaming.
On the strength of the excellent results that solid carbide highperformance
reamers HR 500 achieve in the diameter range up
to 20 mm, Guhring has carried over this successful concept
to the new HR 500 G high-performance reamers for diameters
above 20.00 mm. HR 500 G brazed carbide- or cermet-tipped
high-performance reamers offer particularly economical
advantages for these large diameters in comparison with
solid carbide high-performance reamers with comparable
performance figures. In comparison with conventional
interchangeable head systems the brazed HR 500 G highperformance
reamers are convincing thanks to the following
advantages:
• considerably higher rigidity thanks to monoblock-design.
• additional errors in concentricity through additional interface
are avoided.
• no restriction of coolant delivery by avoiding an additional
interface
• installation errors are impossible.
• very simple handling.
• higher rigidity against torsional and radial forces.
• reduced tendency to chattering.
• long tool life thanks to single interface installation
In order to offer the optimal tool material tip for every
application range, tipped HR 500 G high-performance reamers
are available with carbide inserts and TiAlN nanoA-coating for
the machining of cast iron and special steels or with cermet
inserts for the machining of steels and GGG materials. Detailed
information regarding optimal application can be found in the
GuhringNavigator for these tools.
The geometry of tipped HR 500 high-performance reamers
corresponds to those in solid carbide. Therefore, there is a
choice of four different tipped designs:
• cermet or carbide-tipped HR 500 G S for the machining of
blind holes.
• cermet or carbide-tipped HR 500 G D for the machining of
through holes. s
Special solution HR 500 GT carbide- or cermet-tipped
high-performance reamers - technology and advantages
HR 500 GT high-performance reamers
Standard range and dimensions
Also above 40 mm diameter Guhring‘s HR 500 technology is the first choice for high-performance reaming.
Numerous intelligent solutions ensure that even with these large diameters optimal quality is guaranteed:
HR 500 GT cermet-tipped high-performance reamers as semi standard
Diversity for perfect machining results
HR 500 GT tool heads are available as a semi-standard with short delivery for the diameter range > 40 to 75 mm.
The following material specific designs with the proven HR 500 cutting edge geometry are available:
• Carbide-tipped with nanoA-coating for stainless steels, GGG 60, special alloys and non-ferrous metals
• Carbide-tipped with nanoA Cast-coating for GG
• Cermet-tipped for steels and GGG 40/50
We also manufacture special tools to customer specification upon request.
Optimal cooling lubrication
Thanks to the new developed, patent pending positioning screw on the face of the HR 500 GT tool head the cooling lubricant
accurately reaches the cutting edges. A blocking of the coolant exits by chips during the machining process is impossible due
to the very flat construction of the positioning screw. It is possible to machine blind holes directly up to the base of the hole.
Product information
• right-hand cutting
• extremely unequal flute spacing
• straight-fluted
• straight shank ~ DIN 6535 HA
tolerance h6 with tang for the
overlength, slim hydraulic chuck,
as well as for normal
hydraulic or shrink fit chucks
The HR 500 GT cermet-tipped HPC
reamer operates at highest cutting
rates (see GuhringNavigator) and produces
extremely high-quality holes. In
addition, it provides very high process
reliability. The coolant supply ensures
an optimal chip evacuation and an
optimal cooling.
Secure clamping
For the secure clamping of the HR 500 GT tool head the
straight shank is also fitted with a tang. Special, particularly
slim Guhring hydraulic chucks, gauge lengths 150 and 250
mm and Ø 25 and 32 mm possess a corresponding internal
contour in which the shank sits perfectly and securely. For
short reaming depths HR 500 GT tool heads can also be
clamped in conventional hydraulic chucks with maximum
accuracy. In all cases, handling is very simple and flexible.
