Graduate Research Assistant, Horn Point Laboratory 2002-2004, 2007-2008<br />

Set up numerical models (ROMS) for process-based studies. Participate the Community<br />

Sediment Transport Modeling project (NOPP-sponsored).<br />

Dissertation topic: Density- and wind-driven lateral circulation and the associated<br />

transport of sediments in idealized, partially mixed estuaries.<br />

Summer Student, Friday Harbor Laboratory, University of Washington 2006<br />

Intensive lectures on coastal and estuarine fluid dynamics. Learn instrumentation, plan<br />

and participate a field project in the Snohomish River, WA, analyze ship-mounted<br />

ADCP and hydrographic data. Project title: Vertical mixing of salt in the Snohomish<br />

River estuary.<br />

NOAA/Maryland Sea Grant Fellow, Horn Point Laboratory 2004-2007<br />

Develop and incorporate a cohesive sediment transport module into a nearshore<br />

circulation and wave model (SHORECIRC and REF/DIF). Parameterize seagrass drag<br />

on currents and waves to study wave attenuation. Analyze monthly wind data and carry<br />

out wave modeling (GLERL) for Chesapeake Bay.<br />

R/V Hugh R. Sharp, 5 times 4-day cruise, Apr., May, Oct. 2007, Jan and Apr. 2008<br />

Mooring deployment/recovery, CTD casts, operate the Digital Imaging Particle Settling<br />

Tube with In-situ Capture (DIPSTIC) in the upper reach of Chesapeake Bay.<br />

R/V Bay Eagle and R/V Terrapin, one 3-day and multiple 1-day surveys, 2004-2006<br />

Sediment coring and run sediment erosion test. Axial and lateral ADCP and CTD<br />

surveys in the Potomac River.<br />

Deploy ADV, OBS, and pressure sensors for wave studies near Todds Point in the<br />

Choptank River.<br />
