At Mpalawani, campaigns have started and
members of Zanu PF have once again gone to
the resettlement areas to promise these people
schools, and clinics, which have never existed.
They go there to barter trade, and cheat these
people; a 750ml of cooking oil is equivalent to a
bucket of maize. The farmers suffer, as there is
still no transport network, meaning
communication is bad.
At Masiyepambili village, TM, the vice
headman, allowed Zanu PF youths to pan gold.
T, a member of the ruling party invited his
friends who are MDC supporters to pan gold.
When TM came to check on them he found
these MDC supporters and started insulting
them. This resulted in SM, one of the MDC
supporters, throwing stones at the vice
headman. TM took the matter further to the
Headman. A date for the hearing has been set.
At Fort Rixon, it appears ‘Operation
Chikorokoza chapera’ seems to be punishing
non Zanu PF people in the mining sector. Some
Zanu PF members have had their mines opened
under unclear circumstances while those of
other people are still closed.
ward meeting to discuss development issues and
food. Among the people who attended were
some Zanu PF youths who were drunk and
harassing people they knew or suspected to be
MDC. The youths, including MN and his
friends harassed MN who is a youth member of
the MDC.
At Chewondo village, the people gathered to
buy maize grain from the GMB. Members of
the food committee who are all Zanu PF had
decided that all opposition supporters would not
get anything. The Councillor of the ward told
them that they would not get anything. Among
those who did not get anything was NN. Those
who were known to be MDC left the meeting
point without anything.
At Maphisa, MN was wearing a Zanu PF T/shirt
at a bar and having his beer when SM and JD
approached him and started insulting him. They
said that his party was causing economic
hardships in the country and yet he seems to be
proud of it. They harassed him.
At Filabusi Information center, some Zanu PF
officials and AL are helping establish cross
boarder trading under the Gender and Youth
ministry. However, most of the beneficiaries are
Zanu PF supporters as the participation is
politicised. One of the Traders’ meetings was
held on this day. People like Mrs. M whose
political affiliation is not known but are
interested in trading did not get any assistance
even though they attended the meetings.
At Sezani, in ward 4, a ward meeting was held
and the Councillor addressed the people. He
threatened those who do not have Zanu PF
support cards that they will not be able to buy
grain from GMB or receive food supplements.
He appealed to those who do not make efforts
of getting them.
