from the village by the ruling party<br />

6 June 2007<br />

GR (50) and MM (35), of MDC, were<br />

reportedly harassed, by councillor LB<br />

(38), who accused the pair of wanting to<br />

benefit from Zanu PF residential stands,<br />

yet the pair did not want to denounce<br />

MDC.<br />

10 June 2007<br />

SM (40), of Zanu PF, allegedly<br />

harassed, DN (40), of MDC, whom she<br />

accused of wanting to benefit from Zanu<br />

PF schemes, yet she supports the<br />

opposition. SM was organizing a trip to<br />

China for women in her ward and DN<br />

had shown interest.<br />

10 June 2007<br />

CL (50), of Zanu PF, allegedly harassed,<br />

SG (40), accusing her of wanting to<br />

benefit from BEAM, which is purported<br />

to be a Zanu PF scheme, yet SG, was a<br />

staunch MDC supporter.<br />

17 June 2007<br />

LB (38), of Zanu PF, allegedly harassed,<br />

PC (37) and labelled her opposition, for<br />

failing to produce a Zanu PF party card,<br />

when LB wanted to list names of people<br />

who would get stands.<br />

Makonde<br />

1 June 2007<br />

MM (30), of NCA, was reportedly<br />

harassed, by UM and RM (60) of Zanu<br />

PF, accusing her of working for ZESN,<br />

because she wore a local observer<br />

T/shirt, which was viewed as opposition<br />

regalia.<br />

2 June 2007<br />

TC, MPLM (50), SM (40) and CC (40)<br />

of Zanu PF, reportedly harassed, PM<br />

(40) and WS (20), of MDC, accusing<br />

them the trio of being opposition<br />

supporters in a Zanu PF dominated<br />

constituency.<br />

3 June 2007<br />

Headman C (±60), of Zanu PF, allegedly<br />

harassed, MN (20) and TG (30),<br />

members of the public, accusing them of<br />

failing to attend village meetings and<br />

they were asked to buy Zanu PF<br />

membership cards.<br />

10 June 2007<br />

DM (40) and AB (30), of Zanu PF,<br />

allegedly assaulted, CC (20), of the<br />

opposition MDC, accusing him of<br />

naming his soccer team “green<br />

bombers” which DM and AB viewed as<br />

provocation of the ruling party.<br />

11 June 2007<br />

M (30) and TK (22), members of the<br />

public, were reportedly harassed by MS<br />

(50), Councillor M (50) and BC (±40) of<br />

Zanu PF, forcing the pair to join Zanu<br />

PF first before they are included in<br />

project groups which the councillor was<br />

going to fund.<br />

14 June 2007<br />

C (±30) and S (40), reportedly harassed<br />

GB (+30) and RC (+35), of MDC<br />

accusing them of being strong<br />

supporters of the opposition, saying they<br />

could mobilize masses of people to rebel<br />

against the ruling party.<br />

15 June 2007<br />

LM (30), of Zanu PF, allegedly<br />

harassed, GM (20) and SP (30) of MDC,<br />

alleging that they were spies who carried<br />

their operations during village meetings.<br />

Ngezi<br />

1 June 2007<br />

M (40), M (+40) and CB (60) of Zanu<br />

PF allegedly harassed FB (65), of the<br />

opposition MDC. The trio was<br />

registering their disapproval of FB’s<br />

Appointment as Chief, yet he<br />

belonged to the opposition.<br />

2 June 2007<br />

Chief M (50), reportedly harassed,<br />

TV (40), a member of the public,<br />

accusing him of bringing town<br />

politics to rural people. Town politics<br />

is perceived to do with the opposition.<br />

7 June 2007<br />

MC (+40), of the ruling Zanu PF,<br />

allegedly harassed, RZ (35), also of<br />

Zanu PF, accusing RZ of giving a<br />

false report to the government that the<br />

area had 75% drought and only a few<br />

people would not need food aid. MC<br />

wanted RZ to report 100%, so that a<br />

lot of food aid would be sent and he<br />

would benefit, as the food would be<br />

delivered at his house.<br />
