4.3 Radio Gateway Software Specification
This chapter gives the software specification of the different components of the Radio Gateway. These
include the Inter Working Function (IWF), the TD-CDMA driver (Radio Channel Manager and Radio
Convergence Function), the Access Stratum. It also provides the interface between these components, and
also the components involved in other equipments. Below is a high level integrated view of the different
components of the Radio Gateway.
4.3.1 Overview of the different components
This section splits the components identified before in sub-blocks, giving an overview of their role. The
detailed behaviour of these sub-blocks and their interactions will be detailed in the next chapter.
4.3.1.1 Radio Gateway Operating System
The Radio Gateway will run the Linux Operating system, kernel 2.4.4 (option 1) or kernel 2.4.20 (option
2)
The Radio Gateway will run the Real-Time Linux (RTLinux) on top of the Linux Operating System,
patch RTL 3.1 (option 1) or patch RTL 3.2 (option 2).
4.3.1.2 Inter Working Function
This module will act as a relay between the Ipv6 world and the radio world, transferring the IPv6 packets
from one to the other and generating any kind of specific signalling (paging, radio broadcast, QoS
signalling, specific IP signalling).
