4.1.2.3.2 Radio Infos sub-block
Figure 12: Radio Connection Manager Block in the Mobile Terminal
The Radio Infos sub-block transmits radio information received from the RCF to the Network
Environment Infos block of the MTNM, via the message TD-CDMA_INFO.
It could also transmit a request for radio information from the MTNM to the RCF, if this was needed (the
Access Stratum provides this functionality: query proactively radio conditions). In our implementation,
this service is not needed and will not be implemented.
The precise format of the radio information is transparent to the RCM layer, but is defined between the
RCF and the MTNM.
4.1.2.3.3 Open / Close Connection sub-block
The Open / Close Connection sub-block manages the Radio Connections. It transmits a request received
from the MTNM, via message OPEN_TD-CDMA_CONN, to open a connection, to the RCF. There will
be 4 parameters: cell id of the Radio Gateway we want to connect to, Home Address of the MT, CoA of
the MT, Fast Handover optimisation flag (if we are performing a fast handover between two Radio
Gateways).
It transmits the report status from the RCF of the open connection command, via message OPEN_TD-
CDMA_CONN_ACK, to the MTNM. There will be two parameters: local connection reference and status.
It transmits a request received from the MTNM, via message CLOSE_TD-CDMA_CONN, to close a
connection, to the RCF. There will be one parameter: local connection reference.
It transmits the report status from the RCF of the close connection command, via message CLOSE_TD-
CDMA_CONN_ACK, to the MTNM. There will be two parameters: local connection reference and status.
It also transmits any report from the RCF that the connection has been lost, to the MTNM, via message
LOST_TD-CDMA_CONN. There will be one parameter: local connection reference.
