for interception of paging control messages. Only a further check on the respective ICMPv6 message
types is to be performed, mapping the control messages to the appropriate radio channel. What is not
described here is the advertisement mechanisms of paging area information. This is not
5.2.10.2.2 Interface mechanisms
Physically, the RG is connected to the AR through a wired Ethernet connection. The RG listens to
dedicated ICMPv6 message types, either sent to a broadcast or multicast address. The protocol carried by
the described mechanism is ICMPv6 encoded paging control messages.
5.2.10.3.1 Description
The generic, access technology independent IP paging protocol specifies appropriate control messages
between the Paging Agent and the paging attendant, implemented in Access Routers.
5.2.10.3.2 Interface mechanisms
Wired Ethernet interfaces the related components, providing transport for ICMPv6 encoded paging
control messages.
