Nothing Can be Achieved Without KNX
Climate protection is one of
the most urgent but also interesting
challenges faced by
the international community.
The goal of numerous international
states is to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions
substantially for the long
term. This is the vision:
“If you want to build a ship,
don‘t drum up the men to
gather wood, divide the work
and give orders. Instead,
teach them to yearn for the
vast and endless sea” says
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Goals remain abstract until
they are translated into concrete
recommendations for
action. National programmes
or regulations alone are not
enough. They will only be
successful if they bring tangible
benefits to the operator
or user.
Private households, the public
infrastructure, industry
and trade rank amongst the
target groups with regard to
energy savings. Until now,
it was thought that energy
was primarily saved due to
good insulation. One thing is
certain: the planned energy
savings cannot be achieved
with structural measures
alone.
KNX will change the electrical
installation in private
households for the long
term because it offers considerable
potential for saving
energy. The same applies
to KNX building automation
in industry, in which
considerable energy savings
are also possible. No business
nowadays would think
of employing standardised
processes in manufacturing
without using automation.
KNX building automation
is an additional opportunity
to save energy together with
factory automation, as standardised
processes are also
carried out in office buildings.
This is no longer possible
without system concepts,
networking or indeed without
KNX.
The route goes from smart
building to intelligent meters
and smart grid.
KNX is the system for distributing
and using energy
intelligently.
We need to act today to
safeguard the future. The
earlier the better.
Because: “When you plant an
oak tree, you do not dare to
cherish the hope of resting in
its shade in the near future”.
