13. The applicant is advised that the Construction Certificate plans and specifications must
comply with the provisions <strong>of</strong> the Building Code <strong>of</strong> Australia.
14. All excavations and backfilling associated with the erection or demolition <strong>of</strong> a building must
<strong>be</strong> executed safely and in accordance with appropriate pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards.
All excavations associated with the erection or demolition <strong>of</strong> a building must <strong>be</strong> properly
guarded and protected <strong>to</strong> prevent them from <strong>be</strong>ing dangerous <strong>to</strong> life or property.
15. If an excavation associated with the erection or demolition <strong>of</strong> a building extends <strong>be</strong>low the
level <strong>of</strong> the base <strong>of</strong> the footings <strong>of</strong> a building on an adjoining allotment <strong>of</strong> land, the person
causing the excavation <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> made:
a. must preserve and protect the building from damage, and
b. if necessary, must underpin and support the building in an approved manner, and
c. must, at least 7 days <strong>be</strong>fore excavating <strong>be</strong>low the level <strong>of</strong> the base <strong>of</strong> the footings <strong>of</strong> a
building on an adjoining allotment <strong>of</strong> land, give notice <strong>of</strong> intention <strong>to</strong> do so <strong>to</strong> the owner
<strong>of</strong> the adjoining allotment <strong>of</strong> land and furnish particulars <strong>of</strong> the excavation <strong>to</strong> the owner
<strong>of</strong> the building <strong>be</strong>ing erected or demolished.
The owner <strong>of</strong> the adjoining allotment <strong>of</strong> land is not liable for any part <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> work
carried out for the purposes <strong>of</strong> this clause, whether carried out on the allotment <strong>of</strong> land <strong>be</strong>ing
excavated or on the adjoining allotment <strong>of</strong> land.
In this clause, allotment <strong>of</strong> land includes a public road and any other public place.
16. Toilet facilities are <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> provided, within the work site on which work involved in the
erection or demolition <strong>of</strong> a building is <strong>be</strong>ing carried out, at the rate <strong>of</strong> one <strong>to</strong>ilet for every 20
persons or part <strong>of</strong> 20 persons employed at the site.
17. Any fencing and associated footings shall <strong>be</strong> constructed entirely within the boundaries <strong>of</strong> the
property.
18. The demolition is <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> carried out in accordance with the guidelines contained in Australian
Standard 2601-1991: The Demolition <strong>of</strong> Structures.
19. Access <strong>to</strong> demolition sites shall <strong>be</strong> protected as directed by the Principal Certifying Authority
by the use <strong>of</strong> suitable fences or hoardings.
20. Demolition work, including removal <strong>of</strong> material or debris from the site, on any building in a
residential area shall only <strong>be</strong> carried out during the following hours: Mondays <strong>to</strong> Fridays
inclusive: 7.00am <strong>to</strong> 5.30pm. Saturdays: 8.00am <strong>to</strong> 12.00 noon. Sundays and Public
Holidays: Not Permitted.
21. A person taking down or demolishing or causing <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> taken down or demolished any
building or part there<strong>of</strong> shall, upon identifying or suspecting that as<strong>be</strong>s<strong>to</strong>s is present in the
