• W<strong>at</strong>er sensitive urban design – Council using s<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmw<strong>at</strong>er <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> irrig<strong>at</strong>e ovals, parks and gardens;<br />
• Sustainable <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>wn centre design - Reducing the dependence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> w<strong>at</strong>er and energy in new <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>wn<br />
centre projects;<br />
• Biodiversity - Regener<strong>at</strong>ing bushland; c<strong>on</strong>trolling feral animals and noxious weeds; planting<br />
more trees in public areas;<br />
• W<strong>at</strong>er and c<strong>at</strong>chments - Improving the c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> streams and creeks; reducing flooding<br />
risks and improving the quality <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> run<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>f; collecting rubbish and litter from s<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmw<strong>at</strong>er<br />
drains;<br />
• Community partnerships - Supporting Council community based envir<strong>on</strong>mental volunteer<br />
groups; funding community based local envir<strong>on</strong>mental projects through a small grants<br />
scheme;<br />
• Recre<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> - Cre<strong>at</strong>ing more walking tracks and improving access <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> n<strong>at</strong>ural areas;<br />
• Fire management - C<strong>on</strong>structing new fire trails <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> assist in fire c<strong>on</strong>trol; mapping fire pr<strong>on</strong>e<br />
land; cre<strong>at</strong>ing new fire breaks <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>tween residential housing and bushland;<br />
• Regul<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> and enforcement – C<strong>on</strong>trol <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> dumping and encroachment in<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> bushland and<br />
noxious weed c<strong>on</strong>trol educ<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong>;<br />
• M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring and evalu<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> - M<strong>on</strong>i<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ring envir<strong>on</strong>mental change <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> evalu<strong>at</strong>e the impacts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
development and projects;<br />
• Communic<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> – Newsletters, general promoti<strong>on</strong> and <strong>on</strong>going c<strong>on</strong>sult<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong>.<br />
