The Str<strong>at</strong>egic Human Resources Plan will c<strong>on</strong>tinue <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> focus <strong>on</strong> a num<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>r <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> initi<strong>at</strong>ives in<br />

order <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>tinue <str<strong>on</strong>g>meeting</str<strong>on</strong>g> legisl<strong>at</strong>ive requirements and improve the health and safety <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Council’s staff. There will <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> a review <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> all risk assessments and standard oper<strong>at</strong>ing<br />

procedures, especially in the outdoor areas. Additi<strong>on</strong>ally, occup<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong>al health and<br />

safety policies and procedures will <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> reviewed and upd<strong>at</strong>ed where appropri<strong>at</strong>e, and all<br />

managers will <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> assessed against their generic health and safety accountabilities.<br />

Managing Equity and Diversity<br />

Ku-ring-gai Council is committed <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the goals <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> equal opportunities in employment<br />

staff mem<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs have <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>en trained <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> provide inform<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> for staff and managers about<br />

workplace harassment and discrimin<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> and <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> act as a point <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>tact and support for<br />

any employee who wishes <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> make a complaint.<br />

The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Management Plan developed in 2004 in<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sult<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> with staff and management is reviewed by the EEO Committee <strong>on</strong> a bim<strong>on</strong>thly<br />

basis against established performance indica<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs. Planned activities for the<br />

Committee over the coming year include:<br />

Attending team <str<strong>on</strong>g>meeting</str<strong>on</strong>g>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> raise awareness <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> EEO and workplace harassment.<br />

Implementing additi<strong>on</strong>al training for managers and staff <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> focus <strong>on</strong> a broad range <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

EEO issues.<br />

Reviewing Ku-ring-gai Council’s human resources standards and procedures,<br />

ensuring the inclusi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> EEO principles.<br />

Reviewing and upd<strong>at</strong>ing the EEO and Workplace Harassment Inform<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> Kit and<br />

the Bullying and Harassment brochure.<br />
