Publicise Council services by utilising existing community networks, particularly those in contact with residents <strong>of</strong> culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Publicise Council services by organising educational talks and seminars on the role and processes <strong>of</strong> Council aimed at residents <strong>of</strong> culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and particularly targeting language schools. Publicise Council services utilising community festivals and other points where the community may <strong>be</strong> gathered, such as shopping centres and citizenship ceremonies. Timeframe: Ongoing. Responsible Officer: Corporate and Communications and other Council Officers as appropriate. 2.5. Publicise where appropriate Council issues using the ethnic media. Take in<strong>to</strong> consideration the language and cultural needs <strong>of</strong> residents when inviting comments concerning any forward management planning matters. Timeframe: Ongoing. Objective 3 Ku-ring-gai Council will <strong>of</strong>fer staff training which helps employees <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> aware and pr<strong>of</strong>essionally responsive <strong>to</strong> the cultural and linguistic diversity <strong>of</strong> Ku-ring-gai residents. Ensure Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Relations staff are provided with training in effective communication with non-English speakers including use <strong>of</strong> interpreters, language aids, ethnospecific services and other communication resources.
