Draft Management Plan 2005-2009
• Completion <strong>of</strong> upgrades <strong>to</strong> 9 sporting facilities and 25 playgrounds.
• Water quality in natural environment from s<strong>to</strong>rmwater discharge from Council’s
roads <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> improved by introduction <strong>of</strong> filter treatments for all roadworks adjacent
<strong>to</strong> bushland.
• Completion <strong>of</strong> statu<strong>to</strong>ry requirements for all <strong>of</strong> Council’s major buildings.
• Commencement <strong>of</strong> the program for replacement or major improvements <strong>of</strong> Council's
buildings.
• All operational plant used <strong>to</strong> its maximum potential and plant that is underutilised
<strong>be</strong>low economic value <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> disposed and replaced by hired plant.
• Undertaking <strong>be</strong>st practice asset maintenance, management, refurbishment and
replacement that is recognised as a leader by other Councils.
• A new Council depot that embodies sustainability design features.
• An adopted program that identifies improvements <strong>to</strong> all Council’s drainage system
<strong>to</strong> meet the 1 in 20 year design s<strong>to</strong>rms.
• An adopted program that re-uses s<strong>to</strong>rmwater and improves the quality <strong>of</strong> run<strong>of</strong>f <strong>to</strong>
bushland.
• Land and Environment Court costs reduced <strong>to</strong> less than $1 million per annum.
• A development assessment service that is a <strong>be</strong>st practice model in terms <strong>of</strong>
efficiency, consistency and reliability and has a median processing time <strong>of</strong> 40 days
for 70% <strong>of</strong> all development applications.
• Fully au<strong>to</strong>mated development assessment and certification systems, using internet
based application processes.
• High quality development outcomes evident across Ku-ring-gai.
• Improved public image and confidence in our regula<strong>to</strong>ry and compliance services.
• A new multi purpose community facility.
What we will do this year
• Develop five year rolling programs for roads and footpaths that targets 12 kilometres
<strong>of</strong> road and 2.5 kilometres <strong>of</strong> new footpath.
• Develop five year programs for upgrading sportsfields, sporting facilities and
playgrounds.
• Continue <strong>to</strong> implement the program for road treatments adjacent <strong>to</strong> bushland which
enhances the quality <strong>of</strong> water in<strong>to</strong> the natural environment.
• Continue the program for replacement and improvements for Council buildings.
• Develop a program for improvements for all catchments in accordance with
Council’s ranking criteria.
• Ensure appeals are well managed and deemed refusal num<strong>be</strong>rs are minimised.
