Draft Management Plan <strong>2005</strong>-2009<br />

• A l<strong>on</strong>g term visi<strong>on</strong> and plan is developed in c<strong>on</strong>sult<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> with the community and an<br />

acti<strong>on</strong> plan for its implement<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> is in place.<br />

• New c<strong>on</strong>solid<strong>at</strong>ed Council wide Local Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Plan and Development<br />

C<strong>on</strong>trol Plan in place.<br />

• Key retail/commercial centres have comprehensive visi<strong>on</strong>s and plans <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> guide future<br />

development c<strong>on</strong>sistent with the principles <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> sustainability.<br />

• Public domain manual and plans are in place for each major business centre.<br />

• A new developer c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> plan (Secti<strong>on</strong> 94) is prepared <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> ensure adequ<strong>at</strong>e funds<br />

are collected <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> provide for the provisi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> future community infrastructure.<br />

• Heritage inven<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ry sheets are available for all heritage items and Urban<br />

C<strong>on</strong>serv<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> areas.<br />

• Items and areas with heritage significance are protected by inclusi<strong>on</strong> in Local<br />

Envir<strong>on</strong>mental Plans and their development is subject <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> a Development C<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

Plan.<br />

• Bio corridors established across public and priv<strong>at</strong>e land and biodiversity str<strong>at</strong>egy is<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>ing implemented and green web implemented.<br />

• A process is in place for new development, services and facilities reflect the<br />

changing social, ec<strong>on</strong>omic and envir<strong>on</strong>mental needs <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the community.<br />

• Integr<strong>at</strong>ed transport plans (including plans for cycling and walking) in place across<br />

the <str<strong>on</strong>g>council</str<strong>on</strong>g> area and c<strong>on</strong>sistent with regi<strong>on</strong>al and st<strong>at</strong>e government plans.<br />

• Sustainability indica<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs in place.<br />

• Improved access achieved <strong>at</strong> local railway st<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

• Council <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> have deleg<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> issue interim Heritage orders.<br />

Wh<strong>at</strong> we will do this year<br />

• In associ<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> with the development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the st<strong>at</strong>e government Metro Str<strong>at</strong>egy, lobby<br />

for infrastructure and intersecti<strong>on</strong> upgrades <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> major arterial link networks and<br />

access <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> railway st<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

• Ensure integr<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> accessibility criteria in<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> Council’s planning documents.<br />

• C<strong>on</strong>tinue <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> implement Stage 2 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Residential Development Str<strong>at</strong>egy by<br />

preparing plans for major commercial centres.<br />

• Review classific<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> community landholdings in associ<strong>at</strong>i<strong>on</strong> with Stage II <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the<br />

Residential Development Str<strong>at</strong>egy.<br />
