1. Momentum equation and its application:
Impulse momentum principle, fixed and moving flat plates and curved vanes,
series of plates and vanes, water wheels, Velocity triangles and their analysis,
work done, efficiency etc.
2. Hydrodynamic machine:
Classification, general theory, centrifugal heads and fundamental equations,
Euleren, degree of reaction etc, head on machines, various efficiencies, condition
for maximum hydraulic efficienty.
3. Impulse turbine:
Main components and constructional features of Pelton wheel, velocity diagrams
and analysis, number of buckets, jets, non-dimensional parameters like speed
ratio, jet ratio, flow ratio, condition for maximum efficienty.
