Two days state level workshop on ‘Aviation Technology and System Integration (ATSI2012) at K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik and HAL Nashik Unit A two day state level workshop on “Aviation Technology and System Integration (ATSI-2012)” was organized by Department of Computer Engineering, K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik in association with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Nashik & Aeronautical Society of India, Nashik branch on 13 th and 14 th January 2012. Participants from industry and faculty members from Engineering & Polytechnic colleges from all parts of Maharashtra (Nagpur, Satara, Baramati, Ahmednagar and Nashik) participated in the event. The Keynote speaker, Mr. Atul Bakare Scientist F, Additional Regional Director, RCMA, Nashik, delivered a talk on “Unknown past of Aviation Science”. He highlighted the reference of Aeronautics Technology from the ancient Indian Literature. He gave reference of the grantha written by Maharhsee Bhrdwaj and highlighted various sutras-mantras written in it, showing that the roots of aviation science lied with ancient Indian Rishis. He shared various pictorial views of ancient Indian vimanas. The hi-tech knowledge of Indian Rishis amazed the entire audience. He also gave brief information about Indian Missile Programme & talked on features of various missiles developed by India. Sessions on “Global positioning system (GPS)” and “Flight Data Analysis & Black Box” were conducted by the DGM, Training, HAL, Nashik, Mr. Shankar Narayan and Mr. U. G. Salawade, Chief Manager, Design, HAL, Nashik conducted session on “Aircraft Weapon control system”. Mr. Shankar Narayan delivered a talk on “The working of GPS”. He explained various aspects related to Global Positioning System. Starting with history of GPS’s birth he highlighted all the progress path of the only functional GPS – the NAVSTAR developed by U. S. A. His talk was too impressive & added a value to knowledge of all the participants. Mr. U. G. Salawade explained various types of Aircrafts. Then he highlighted on Cockpit controls which was followed by introduction to various weapons. He also covered the working of the missiles and the various types. All participants enjoyed this informative session. Participants enjoyed visit to HAL, Ozar on day two. Mr. Narayanan conducted session on “Avionics” followed by visits to different departments such as GPS lab, assembly line of SU 30 and Air Craft Control Radar System. Principal, Dr. K. N. Nandurkar presented welcome speech. Convener, Dr. S. S. Sane explained the objectives and gave the overall idea of the workshop. Co-Convener, Mrs. C. R. Patil introduced Mr. Atul Bakare, Ms. M. J. Metkar and Ms. R. H. Jadhav introduced the Resource persons Mr. Narayan and Mr. Salawade. Mrs. S. M. Kamalapur, the Co-Convener of the event expressed Vote of thanks and thanked the Authorities of HAL, Aeronautical Society of India and Chairman, Vice Chairman and Trustees of K K Wagh Education Society, Namely Hon. Shri Balasaheb Wagh, Hon. Shri K B Tarle, Hon. Shri. C B Holkar and Hon. Shri Ashok Merchant and Secretary Shri. D S Shinde for their guidance and support. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. M. D. Kokate, Prof. V. R. Khapli and other staff members. All staff of Computer Engineering Department helped in organizing the event successfully.
