2012-2013 DRESS CODE:
DO’S and DON’TS

To reduce the amount of violations
To clarify dress code for parents,
students, and staff
Reduce time away from instruction due
to dress code violations
To practice appropriate attire in the
workplace

Shoulders, back, midriff must be covered
at all times (NO SLEEVELESS
SHIRTS/DRESSES)
Shorts: no shorter than the length of the
middle finger when held at sides
Skirts/Dresses: no shorter than 4 inches
above the knee (NO SPANDEX)
Undergarments must be covered at all
times (COVER BRA STRAPS AND
UNDERWEAR)

Leggings, yoga pants, etc. MUST be worn
with shirt, shorts, skirt that is finger tip
length or longer
When wearing team uniforms to school,
athletes are to adhere to the Kingsway
High School dress code in their dress.

The items below may be comfortable, but do not promote an
atmosphere of learning

When a student violates the dress code, he or she will be
asked to change. If a student refuses to change, it will be
viewed as insubordination and will result in ISS.
Each violation will be documented and written
documentation of the violation will be sent home.
Any clothing provided to the student to rectify the violation
must be returned. If clothing is not returned, it will be
documented as an “obligation” and treated according to
district policy.

1st Offense –warning/ rectify situation + letter home
2nd Offense – warning/ rectify situation + letter home
3rd Offense – one (1) administrative detention/rectify
situation + letter home
4th Offense- two (2) administrative detentions/rectify situation
+ letter home
5th and Consecutive Offenses- three (3) administrative
detentions/rectify situation + letter home
Insubordination = immediate placement in ISS
