2 Active Principle
The corneal layer (Stratum corneum) plays a fundamental role in regulating the skin’s moisture
level. The corneal layer is the upper outside layer of the epidermis, and thus builds a protective
layer. The hardened keratinized cells and the barrier lipids build a brick wall type of structure that
protects the skin from invading foreign substances and prevents water from the inside to
evaporate. This barrier is thus a vital area whose roles are protecting the skin and keeping it
healthy.
