three teams in the GSPOT each week. If you don’t respond

running group (the Hash
House Harriers) has a team. And they wear kilts.
CHARITY
A great part of the WAKA experience is giving back to the
community. Each season, the NM Mesa and Sandia Leagues
appoint a charity wherein all proceeds are collected and
handed off at the conclusion of the season. Do your part!
This season’s charity recipient is the Carrie Tingley Hospital.
Donations will be accepted throughout the season – just
get it to your team rep or direct to Renee Baughman!
The mission of Carrie Tingley
Foundation is to “enhance
the lives of Carrie
Tingley Hospital patients
and special needs children
and their families throughout
New Mexico.” An independent
501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Carrie Tingley
Hospital Foundation was founded by Carrie Wooster Tingley
in 1963.
Remember, your ponying up helps not only the kids, but
your standing in the league charity run – winner gets a keg
and the end of season tourney!

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS
Captains – please appoint the following from your team
(will save you a lot of heartache and money-counting, I assure
you): a (1) charity wrangler (to liaise with Renee), a
(2) shenanigans ringleader (to keep it REAL) and of
course, a (3) head ref. Three refs for each reffing game
should be highly trained, skilled at the rules and objective.

KICKBALL TIPS FROM THE PROS
- Your team ought to be on the field at least fifteen minutes
prior to gametime so as to not fret a forfeiture.
- Kickballers need to be wearing their official WAKA team
shirt – feel free to
screen/decorate/shred them to hell,
but they’ve got to be identifiable as
to the color, league and objects of
official kickball-ness they originally
were at issuance.
- The head ref officiating your game is the OFFICIAL VOICE
and DECISION-MAKER-IN-CHIEF. Do not argue with them,
do not mock them, do not make them want to pitch you
from the game. They, are, in short, SUPREME – even over
Hans, Aaron and Mike. They’re the ones on the field (out of
goodness of heart, not the one lousy beer a game they’re
afforded for the thankless job) and are the final decision
holders. (Hint – get iRef for iPhone – easy calculating!)
- Four guys, four gals and a minimum of 11 players on the
field for each game or FORFEIT. (Please ensure you trade
kicking rosters to your opposing captains before game
start!)
- Have FUN. Be SPORTMANSLIKE. It’s after all *BLEEPING*
KICKBALL, fer foke’s sake!
- Drinking is allowed, even encouraged, but do so RESPON-
SIBLY. Along with your charity, ref and shenanigans players,
designate a DD. Use a solo cup instead of a can. No GLASS!
- Also, ensure you pick up after yourselves. Yo momma
likely doesn’t work at the parks and wouldn’t she be horrified
at your slovenliness?
GSPOT COVER CONTEST

will be decided by the board and will get a professional
photo taken for the cover of the GSPOT this season! Submissions
due next Tuesday March 27.
