MISSION STATEMENT<br />
Serve society by preparing future leaders for a global workplace through undergraduate cooperative education,<br />
graduate education and research in engineering, science and management<br />
<strong>Kettering</strong> fulfills this mission by achieving the following educational purposes:<br />
• Recruiting a culturally and otherwise diverse student body of highly qualified and motivated men and<br />
women . . . and educating them to be thinkers, inquirers, innovators, risk-takers, team-builders, and<br />
planners.<br />
• Attracting and developing a similarly diverse faculty of men and women with outstanding academic<br />
qualifications who are dedicated to teaching . . . and to those scholarly and professional activities that<br />
enhance the teaching-learning process.<br />
• Attracting and developing a professional and administrative staff whose qualifications and experience<br />
provide outstanding leadership and support services.<br />
• Forming strong relationships with carefully selected co-op employers who are committed to providing<br />
continuous and progressive work experience to support the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.<br />
• Conducting a substantial program of research that benefits co-op employers and provides opportunities<br />
for faculty to remain current in their fields.<br />
• Providing excellent instructional and student development facilities including classrooms, laboratories,<br />
and computers.<br />
• Maintaining a pervasive atmosphere of excellence, fairness, and ethical behavior in every aspect of its<br />
operations.<br />
• Combining and integrating all of these elements into challenging curricula, purposeful and directed<br />
work experiences, and comprehensive student development activities . . . creating programs that balance<br />
the needs of <strong>Kettering</strong>'s students with those of its corporate partners.<br />
Accreditation<br />
The <strong>University</strong>, first accredited on March 29, 1962, continues to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the<br />
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org (312-263-0456). The Electrical Engineering,<br />
Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs are additionally accredited since July 21,<br />
1977, and the Computer Engineering program was accredited on October 1, 1998, by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the<br />
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET). On June 18, 1995 the Management program was accredited by the<br />
Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), 7007 College Boulevard, Suite 420, Overland Park, KS 66211, 913-<br />
339-9356. Accreditation documents can be reviewed in the Provost’s Office.
